Their last album railed against the production line mentality of the music industry and the fakes that populate it. But Arctic Monkeys are on their way to becoming its most decorated band of the decade after notching up a record seven nominations for next month's NME awards.

The band, who last year followed their record-breaking debut with a well-received second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, and headline slots at Glastonbury and Old Trafford cricket ground, took their total number of nominations at the awards to 15 in three years.
