Gabriella confirms Sugababes tour support in March.
Is writing for ‘Fastlove’ the anticipated new Broadway musical about speed-dating, written by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge, Strictly Ballroom)

GABRIELLA CILMI has confirmed she will join the Sugababes on their forthcoming UK tour in March. The dates will follow Gabriella’s support slot on Parisian collective Nouvelle Vague’s UK tour in February.

Tipped widely in the press already as a major new talent for 2008, Gabriella releases her debut single ‘Sweet About Me’ on the 10th March 2008. Bringing a little fun back to pop, ‘Sweet About Me’ is a slinky soulful pop song, about making trouble and getting away with it. Radio 1’s Jo Whiley has been spot playing the single, and Radio 2 and Capital Radio have playlisted the single 6 weeks upfront of release. Special mixes on the single from Alex Beedle and Matthew Herbert have been picking up plays on Kiss, Galaxy, 6Music, Ministry and BBC London, and Gabriella followed in the footsteps of Richard Hawley, The Kills, and Cat Power by performing a live session on 6Music’s The Hub this week.

Gabriella made her UK TV debut on December 14th with a performance of ‘Sweet About Me’ on BBC 2’s flagship music show ‘Later With Jools Holland’, and such was the strength of public reaction to her performance that her debut album, ‘Lessons To Be Learned’, jumped into the Top 10 of Amazon’s Pre-Sale Chart, with the album only set for release in the Summer. Her performance can be viewed on: www.youtube.com/gabriellacilmi

Along with the rest of her debut album, Sweet About Me was co-written by Gabriella and legendary songwriting & production team Xenomania (Sugababes, Girls Aloud, Franz Ferdinand).

Since word started to spread about the Australian/Italian singer, Gabriella’s music has attracted a number of high profile syncs, including an invitation from the producers of ITV’s new primetime Friday night drama ‘Echo Beach’ to sing their theme song, a cover of the Martha & The Muffins staple, which broadcasts over 12 weeks, with over 5 million households watching. This cover will be available as a b-side of ‘Sweet About Me’. Gabriella’s music was also picked up by the producers of the ‘St Trinians’ movie, starring Mischa Barton and Colin Firth, the only new artist to feature in the film and on their soundtrack.

Crossing into theatre, Gabriella has recently been writing songs for the highly anticipated new Broadway musical, FastLove, about speed-dating, which is written by Craig Pearce (Moulin Rouge, Strictly Ballroom).

Looking as well as sounding the part, Gabriella has been confirmed as the face of Boots No.17 cosmetics range. The campaign launched on 1 February 2008, with Gabriella a featured artist on their Homepage alongside a video Q&A session and download for another of her album tracks, ‘Sanctuary’. 17 cosmetics were looking for an artist who represented creativity, innovation and fast fashion, and Gabriella fit the bill perfectly. Previous featured artists include fashion designer Jonathan Saunders with Boots 17 plan to feature current and emerging artists from a variety of creative fields ongoing.
