The Incorporated Society of Musicians ISM is the professional association for UK musicians. It is a membership organisation but it offers detailed free online careers advice in the form of information sheets. As well as general careers advice for musicians there are detailed information sheets on specific careers such as music teaching, establishing an orchestral career and music therapy.

Creative & Cultural Skills

Sector information and support for training and career development. The UK is the third largest world market for the sale of music and is dominated by a small number of record companies and retailing chains. The music industry also has hundreds of trade associations and the Musicians' Union. Creative and Cultural Skills is the Sector Skills Council for the music industry. It is an industry-led body responsible for providing strategic support for the sector particularly through supporting skills and training.

Skillset

Skillset is the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries, which comprise broadcast, film, video, interactive media and photo imaging. Jointly funded by those industries and the Government, their job is to make sure that the UK audio visual industries have the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time, so that the industries remain competitive.

International Association for Jazz Education

UK Performing Arts

Offering special career advice in the performing arts sector UKP-Arts is dedicated to providing essential, reliable and comprehensive information for anyone interested in pursuing training and careers in the UK performance industry. It has a section dedicated to music.

Launched as the electronic version of the UK Guide to Performing Arts it carries regularly updated features that will appear within the Guide, as well as a searchable course database.
