The Association of Independent Music (AIM) provides a range of services for members. We promote and protect independents on a national and international level. AIM is a trade body. Musicians Union
The Musicians' Union represents over thirty thousand musicians working in all sectors of the music business. As well as negotiating on behalf of their members with all the major employers in the industry, they offer a range of services for professional and student musicians of all ages. The Musicians Union membership gives access to a range of support and services including negotiating fees with major employers; advising on appropriate fees; free standard contract forms for various live engagements; information on contracts, copyright, recording; legal advice on all matters relating to musical employment; instrument insurance; public liability insurance; careers advice and many other relevant issues.

Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM)
The UK's professional body for musicians, which aims to promote the art of music and the interests of professional musicians, raise standards in the profession and to give their members the best available advice and services. The ISM is the UK’s membership association for professional musicians and is available to support anyone working professionally as a musician from private and peripatetic tutors to international concert musicians (although the emphasis is primarily on classically trained musicians). Established in 1882, the ISM is the oldest association of its kind although it has remained a small organisation and currently has about ten members of staff. The objectives of the ISM are to promote the interests of professional musicians, to raise standards within the profession and to offer advice and support.

Music Managers Forum
The Music Managers Forum was founded in the UK in 1992. The formation of the MMF has given managers an opportunity for sharing and learning and also a much-needed voice within the industry. The forum has provided a chance for meaningful dialogue with the Government and other industry organisations as well as between managers themselves.
International Music Managers Forum (IMMF)
The IMMF was formed to represent the worldwide community of music managers at the international level. Their main objective is the defence of, and promotion of, the interests of music managers and their clients, the featured artists, who represent 95% of the economic activity generated by the music sector throughout the world. The IMMF's membership is formed of the country-level associations of music managers.

BPI
The BPI is the British record industry's trade association, representing thousands of British record companies, from the largest corporation down to the smallest label. Its membership comprises of hundreds of music companies including all four 'major' record companies, associate members such as manufacturers and distributors, and hundreds of independent music companies representing literally thousands of labels. The Music Producers Guild (UK) promotes and represents all individuals in the music production and recording professions. As an independent and democratic organisation, the MPG membership includes producers, engineers, mixers, re-mixers, programmers, students and trainees, those involved in multimedia and any other individuals involved in the creative process. Production Services Association (PSA)
The PSA is the trade association for companies and individuals involved in the live event production industry. Our aim is to represent, improve, educate and develop the business of technical production for live events. This is achieved by pooling the knowledge of the entire industry to create a single voice for the industry and a central resource for its members.
Professional Lighting and Sound Association (PLASA)
Today, PLASA has over 500 members worldwide, including the leading specialists in professional audio, lighting, staging, rigging, AV, communications and related disciplines.

Incorporated Association of Organists
The Incorporated Association of Organists was formed in about 1916. It is the umbrella organisation for some 90 affiliated organists' associations and individual members throughout the United Kingdom and internationally.
Many of the IAO's 6,000 members are organists and/or choir trainers and one of its principal activities is to help with the improvement of standards at all levels.
Of course you do not have to be an organist or choirmaster to belong to the IAO and enjoy the benefits of membership. Anyone who loves the organ and its music, whether a player or not, is welcome to join the IAO. Those who live in the United Kingdom are probably not too far from one of our affiliated associations. These associations may have anything from 25 to more than 200 members but whatever their size, they all have regular programmes of interesting activities, such as recitals, visits, talks, master classes, training and social events.
Young Concert Artist's Trust
Since 1984, the Young Concert Artists Trust (known as YCAT) has been indentifying, nurturing and promoting outstanding young classical soloists and chamber ensembles trained in the United Kingdom. Set up with Young Concert Artists Inc. (known as YCA) in New York as its example, YCAT has become a significant agent for young musicians and a respected promoter of concerts for all its artists, both past and present.
Representing its chosen artists for a minimum of three years, YCAT's objective is to offer management and guidance in all areas of the profession at the beginning of the musicians' careers before finding suitable commercial management to broaden the artists' horizons. The list of YCAT artists since 1984 on the Alumni page speaks for itself.
Auditions are held annually and application forms are available from the YCAT office from November.
