BRIT Awards 2013: Check Nominees and Vote in our Poll!Posted on January 30th, 2013 by Lee Jarvis in Music News, Polls
The BRIT Awards are always a high point in the calendar, and this year, they are due to take place on the 20th February at the O2 Arena in London, to be hosted yet again by James Corden, and aired live on ITV. Among those performing at the ceremony will be Muse, Robbie Williams, Ben Howard and One Direction.
Standout artists for 2013 include indie folksters Mumford and Sons, in the running for Best British Group, MasterCard British Album of the Year, Best Live Act and BRITs Global Success, a new award for highest international sales outside of the UK. Singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé received three nominations this year; one in the Best British Female Solo Artist category, and two in British Single of the Year, whilst newcomers Alt-J (who also won the 2012 Mercury Music Prize) also pick up three nods for Best British Breakthrough Act, Best British Group, and MasterCard British Album of the Year.
In the run up to the event, we thought we would host our own poll for the eight main categories for British artists. Select your favourites below!
Also worth noting is the 2013 custom BRIT Award trophy, which this year was designed by Damien Hirst. This is the third year of the ‘blank canvas’ design being fashioned by a famous artist, with 2011 launching with clothing designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, and last year’s trophy came from pop artist Sir Peter Blake.
