This vacancy was posted on 08/02/10 Artist PR Manager intern sought to represent two young and talented Middle-Eastern female musicians - a pianist and composer- as one entity or separately, to promote and manage their projects worldwide.
Duration: 6 months.
Our aim is to break the stereotypes that are portrayed of female Arab women using music as a medium and one of our aims is to promote the contemporary and experimental music of the Arab world.
This key position requires an enthusiastic, proactive person who has excellent contacts in the media across the arts pages, features, education, music publications, radio, television, online outlets and international media. and will have the experience of promoting young classical music artists:
* have knowledge of classical music or and Middle-Eastern music,
* have an awareness of the scene today,
* have connections within the relevant music industries globally,
* write press releases,
* liaise with CD distributors,
* excellent computer skills,
* liaise with the press,
* interfacing and negotiating with music publishers,
* making arrangements for touring, sponsorship, merchandising, and ensuring that all the available income streams, including those from collection societies, are properly managed
* be able to read a music score (desired though not necessary)
Commitment: You will have ample opportunity to organise the work to fit in with study and other commitments, and will meet regularly with collaborators to plan your efforts.
How you will benefit?
You will be able to conduct the direction of the PR/marketing scheme as a project to meet any course requirements, and to write up your experience as undergraduate or Masters dissertation. Subsequently, we believe that this experience will be seen as demonstrating your capability in managing a high profile arts event with the hope of exciting opportunities in the future. You will also get a commission fee upon projects/concerts you bring them.
