is looking to fill this vacancy 06/05/08
The National Orchestra of Wales, comprising 85 musicians, occupies a very special role as both a national and broadcasting orchestra, promoting over 70 public concerts each year and broadcasting chiefly on Radio Three.
You’ll be responsible for operational and practical arrangements, and you’ll engage and contract freelance musicians, liaise with promoters and venues, assist with touring arrangements and attend and manage concert events and tours. You’ll also supervise stage layouts and look after conductors and soloists at concert venues.
Previous experience in orchestra administration and ‘fixing’ is essential, as are good communication and IT skills. Musical knowledge to degree level or equivalent gained as a player is vital, including knowledge of orchestra structures, orchestrations and instruments. Knowledge of the our/MU agreements for staff and freelance musicians is an advantage. Regular evening and weekend work will be necessary in this role.
Closing Date: Applications to be received by 23 May.
