some of the foremost artists performing internationally, as well as having a commitment to search out and nurture the development of exceptional young talent.
The company places a strong emphasis on integration and mutual support and although the department of twelve is divided into three groupings, it works very much as a team. This role will be working directly to the Director, Artist Management.
Job Description
The Director, Artist Management has her own varied list of conductors and instrumentalists and one stage director. The Assistant will work closely with her in the management of these artists and will need to develop a
thorough knowledge of the artists’ careers, repertoire, special requirements and ambitions.
The role would include the following duties:
Production of detailed artist’s schedules following liaison between artists and promoters and including
travel and hotel arrangements
Visa & work permits
Responsibility for checking of contracts
Responsibility for invoicing, withholding tax + social security applications
Responsibility for ensuring Artifax Agent database (artists’ diaries) is up to date and correct
Regular use of the computer programmes ACT! (contacts database), Microsoft Outlook, Word and other
Microsoft Office applications
Working with the Marketing Dept. on promotional materials, newsletter and website and writing copy for
both; assisting in the maintenance of mailing lists and organising mailing shots
General support for the Director, Artist Management including:
Responsibility for Director's diary including all travel, meetings, concerts, and itineraries
Supporting Director's artist manager role by assisting with management of projects, the discussion of
programmes and fees, liaising with promoters and orchestras and responding to artists' requests
Providing secretarial and clerical support
Skills required
Candidates should be educated to degree level and must possess excellent administrative, organisational and
negotiating skills, with a keen eye for detail. They must be able to thrive in a busy and, at times, pressured environment. A thorough working knowledge of classical music is essential and knowledge of the industry in general is desirable. Ideally, they would have already held a post within a classical music organisation such as an agency, orchestra or venue. Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be fluent in spoken and written English. They must also have a high level of computer literacy. The candidate will have a flair for forming good relationships with a wide range of people. The role requires an ability to work with initiative and tact, representing the company in a variety of situations including in meetings and at concerts.
Candidates should show an ability to think creatively and imaginatively. Fluency in a foreign language is
desirable.
We have a policy of aiming to create a career path within the company for valued staff wherever possible and it is therefore hoped the successful candidate will take an active part in the company as a whole. Staff are appointed on an initial three month trial basis.
Salary: dependent on experience
