Broadcast Assistant

Working as one of our Broadcast Assistants, you’ll be assisting our Producers and Presenters with all aspects of the on air programme schedule. You’ll assess the calls from listeners whose contributions are a key part of our output and act as that first point of contact with the public for all programme enquiries. You’ll also connect ISDN lines, signal test our radio car and, on occasion, drive the desk. You’ll also be expected to work on other areas of the output as required.

You’ll be an experienced Broadcast Assistant with a well developed knowledge and passion for people’s stories and compelling output. You must have strong organisational, communication, influencing and persuading skills as well as bags of ideas and creative treatments. In addition you’ll need an understanding of our local radio audience; their topical interests and one other community. It’s essential that you can work within a team as well as on your own initiative.
