About The Job

For the German CATS tour we are looking for:

Excellent dancers with good vocal ability, acrobats with a high level of dance and very good singers with both good belt and classical voices.

SILLABUB Very good dancer. Young looking and not taller than 5’ 4”. Very good head voice, with clear and youthful tones. Confident to F.
CASSANDRA/TANTOMILE/VICTORIA Strong dancers with good ballet training. (Cassandra: minimum height 5’ 7”).
ALONZO/CORICOPAT/PLATO/MACAVITY Very good dancers. Ensemble baritone (Plato/Macavity: pas de deux with good strength in lifts).
POUNCIVAL Dancer with very good classical ballet training. Confident Baritone to F. Youthful and not too tall.
TUMBLEBRUTUS Acrobat, dancer, singer. Must be able to perform a variety of acrobatics, including a series of flicflacs and saltos.
SKIMBLESHANKS Strong singer (high baritone/tenor), and good dancer. The railway cat, a lover of punctuality and order, he is neat and full of exuberance. Experienced.
BOMBALURINA Sings Macavity. Excellent dancer/singer with a smokey, strong belt. Tall, slinky and very sexy. Playing age: 25 – 30.
DEMETER Bombalurina’s best friend, and sings the other half of the Macavity duet. Excellent dancer/singer. On the one hand neurotic and wild, on the other very intuitive. Minimum height 5’4” Playing age: 20 – 30.
MR. MISTOFFELEES Excellent dancer/singer with fully-trained ballet background – good turns in 2nd. Baritone. Excellent performer and not too tall.
MUNGOJERRIE and RUMPLETEAZER Male-female duo. Strong dancers with acrobatic ability and excellent voices. High baritone for Mungojerrie and high belt for Rumpleteazer. Lots of personality, young, full of energy, impudent and cheeky.

GRIZABELLA Strong, experienced singer/actress with high belt (to D flat), sings “Memory”. The one time star among cats has seen better times. She now lives in the gutter and is despised by the other cats. She is vulnerable, but she is also a survivor.
OLD DEUTERONOMY High Baritone/Tenor (to G sharp). Must be able to move. The wise, kind and very old leader of the cats. He has authority and dignity. He should radiate understanding and warmth.
RUM TUM TUGGER The rock star. Should have a strong, raw rock voice, be able to move well, and must have a wild sex appeal – with a sense of humour. Playing age: 25 – 30.
MUNKUSTRAP Excellent singer/actor, who must be able to move. Baritone. In the absence of Old Deuteronomy he is the leader of the cats. He stands out due to his imposing, energetic and courageous manner, and exudes maturity and dignity.
GUS/GROWL TIGER/BUSTOPHER JONES Tenor. Character role. Playing age: 30 – 45. Gus: an old and frail theatre cat. In his dream, Gus becomes Growlitger - a swashbuckling pirate. Range to B flat. Bustopher Jones: a distinguished, aristocratic tomcat. Good living has made him round and plump.
JENNY FLECKENREICH/GUMBIE CAT Strong vocally, must have very good tap. Rather round, with a mothering personality and a sense of humour. Playing age: 25 – 45.
JELLYLORUM Excellent soprano. Must be able to move. Practical, affectionate and maternal. Playing age: 25 – 35.

Dancers and leading actors please prepare a ballad and an up-tempo number, and bring the sheet music.
Auditions will take place at PINEAPPLE DANCE STUDIOS, 7 Langley Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JA.

Call backs are planned for March 12th and 13th , in Düsseldorf. Rehearsals will start at the beginning of August; the premiere is at the end of September in Cologne and the contracts are running until spring 2013.
