We seek a new Director of Music.

We are a auditioned mixed choir of some 50 voices, seek a new Director of Music from September 2009, following the retirement of Dennis McCaldin. The choir performs music from the 16th to 21th Centuries, from a cappella to major choral works with professional orchestra and soloists. Venues for concerts are in the Greater Lancaster area, including the city's cathedral and Priory Church, Lancaster University (as part of the concert series), Cartmel Priory, and the Lake District (as part of the Summer Music Festival).

We seek a trained choral and orchestral conductor with 1) a sense of humour and infectious enthusiasm 2) experience of conducting large events and orchestral direction 3) excellent choir training and musical skills 4) a wide knowledge of choral repertoire

The new director will have the full cooperation of the committee in developing an interesting and challenging programme and in furthering his or her own professional skills. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm at Lancaster University during term time. Five or six concerts are performed throughout the year. The position is remunerated in line with currently accepted practice.
