This vacancy was posted on 19/08/09 This position is responsible for planning, teaching and directing its Arabic academic and music performance programs, supervision of curricular development, instruction, faculty requirement and enrolment management within the Arabic Music Department.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the development and implementation of curricular, specialising in Arabic music.
• Responsible for delivering programmes that are distinguishable from mainstream programmes by their effectiveness for student learning and cognitive coherence.
• Responsible for the implementation of an integrated curriculum comprising of Arabic and Western music and general academics covering grades 1 – 12 (ages 6 – 18).
• Role includes being an education administrator including teaching at least 2-3 subjects in the music field, deployment of teaching staff, allocation of lesson and pastoral care of students.
The ideal candidate will have a Masters in Education and a PhD in Arabic Music is desirable. You will have knowledge and teaching experience utilizing methods of notation and oral transmission to teach Arabic music. Experience of working with children and at least 15 years experience of teaching Arabic music is essential. You will have knowledge of music theory and performance and be familiar with new instructional resources and technology.
