This position is responsible for planning, teaching and directing its academic and music performance programs, supervision of curricular development, instruction, faculty requirement and enrolment management within the Arabic Music Department of Qatar Music Academy

• Manage the development and implementation of curriculum, specializing in Western music subject.
• Responsible for delivering programs that are distinguishable from mainstream programs by their effectiveness for student learning and cognitive coherence.
• Responsible for the implementation of an integrated curriculum comprising of Arabic and Western Music, General Academics covering grades 1 – 12 (ages 6 – 18)
• Role to include being an education administrator providing instructional leadership in the day-to-day school activities such as the schedule of day-to-day time table including the following:
1. Teaching at least 2 -3 subjects in the music field.
2. Deployment of teaching staff.
3. Allocation of lessons
4. Pastoral care of students
• Direct and set educational standards and goals for the music faculty in areas such as classroom practices and its varied pedagogy and assessment methods.
• Establish the policies and procedures and line manage teaching staff and support staff.
• To liaise with members of the orchestra who may also function as teaching faculty.
• To supervise the extra- mural classes and study of music available to the wider community of interested learners.

Qualifications: Masters in Education or a related field. PhD (Arabic Music) is desirable.

Experience:
• Familiar with the Integrated Programme curricula with its varied pedagogy and assessment methods.
• At least 10 years of teaching experience with children.
• Experience in Music education research, program development and evaluation is preferred.
• Knowledge of educational methods and strategies and familiar with music education innovations and best practices.
• Knowledge of music educational theory related to models of curriculum, teaching and learning, classroom practice.
• Knowledge of music theory and performance
• Ability to develop and evaluate effective learning programs
• Familiar with new instructional resources and technology, teaching practices
• Experience in teaching Western music for at least 15 years
• Publication of scholastic papers in reputable western music periodicals
• Possess skills for managing pupil welfare
• Have sound pedagogical skills and classroom techniques for the management of pupil welfare
• Be able to use various forms of assessments
• Be able to confidently apply classroom management strategies
• Be able to use information technology as a cognitive tool, an information tool and communication tool in the process of teaching and learning
• Have good communication skills
• Be able to manage time and stress
