£20.55 per hour plus £4.88 per hour holiday pay
Variable hours (approximately 18 hours per week), fixed-term until July 2010
The School of Media & Sound is looking for a strong communicator who can teach Sound Engineering, Music Technology and some Media Production units at Levels 1 to 5. Much of the teaching in this role will be on the Foundation Degree in Audio Technology at Levels 4 and 5 and it is anticipated that you will make a significant contribution to the course leadership and pastoral care of the students enrolled on this programme. Taught classes include Studio Production, Audio Engineering, Computer Music Systems at FE level, and Psychoacoustics, and Audio for Film and Video at HE2 level.
You will also be responsible for academic administration and University liaison and co-ordination. Experience of academic boards, leading course team meetings, and student liaison at HE level would be desirable. To be successful in this role, you must have practical music industry experience. You will also be very organised and able to work effectively as part of a larger team. You must have a first degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area. It is also essential that you possess a recognised Level 4 teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) or display a willingness to work towards a Diploma Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment.
