Expanding independent record company in NW London needs a studio engineer to produce CD masters and handle digitization and cleaning of its catalogue material.
This Music Group requires a mastering engineer to produce the CD masters for its UK and US release schedules and its licensee customers, to transfer recordings from original tape and vinyl sources to digital format, and clean existing recordings to achieve acceptable quality for commercial release.
This is a rapidly-expanding independent record company, based in Pinner, Middlesex, specialising in the catalogue and re-issue business. It has recently secured substantial corporate investment, enabling it to acquire a catalogue of over 20,000 recordings across all musical genres, and is actively pursuing other catalogue purchases. This expanding library of material provides the repertoire to support an intensive and continuous schedule of CD and digital download releases in the UK and USA.
Some catalogue material exists in tape form, requiring transfer to digital format with ISRC codes, and some of the recordings need cleaning in order to achieve satisfactory reproduction.
The Engineer will work in a dedicated mastering suite at our Pinner offices, working closely with the Product Manager, Production Manager and Data Manager to meet an exacting and continuous flow of technically varied work, which will feed our existing commercial activity and the continued expansion of our digital library of masters.
Applicants will ideally have specific relevant experience in a similar role, or experience as a studio engineer or operator, involving use of both tape and computer-based digital equipment. They will also ideally have knowledge of and experience in using Cedar, Sadie or similar software. In addition, they will be generally computer-literate, proficient in Word and Excel.
This is an opportunity to work as part of a team of about 20 people in a friendly, but busy and professional environment, as part of a company which has an ambitious business growth plan, but needs a willingness to work hard, occasionally under some pressure, to meet challenging commercial objectives.
Salary will reflect qualifications and experience.
