About The Job
We are a well-established, amateur operatic/musical theatre group of a high standard, based in Wimbledon. We are looking for a Music Director for our May/June 2013 production of 'Anything Goes'. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced MD to get involved in conducting in London, particularly as we will be performing with a full orchestra in the prestigious New Wimbledon Theatre.
Applicants must be experienced in orchestral conducting, as well as working with singers in staged performances. Responsibilities include taking rehearsals (shared with Director/Choreographer) on Tuesday/Thursday evenings as well as Sunday evening rehearsals in the final 2 months before the show; basic vocal coaching; arranging band call and conducting the orchestra. There will be 6 performances (29 May-1 June), which include 2 matinees (Thursday and Saturday).
This position is initially for an MD for this one event, but there is the possibility of extending the work to include subsequent shows. We are offering a one-off fee of between £750-£1000 depending on experience.
