We are looking for 2 experienced male or female Romany – Gypsy – Traveller musicians/singers/actors to devise and tour a 30-minute drama for London secondary school audiences.
Performers ages from 18 years and up, experience in running workshops with young people would be an advantage.
This project is part of the Origins festival of First Nations and the devising process will include encounter and collaboration with actors of First Nations (indigenous) theatre companies from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States.
Performers need to be available for all of the following dates:
Devising: in London, 5th – 17th May 2009
Rehearsal and touring the play to schools in the London area - 5 weeks in Sep/Oct 2009
Workshop style audition will be held in London on Friday 17th April (afternoon).
The maximum time you will need to attend will be 1 hour 45 minutes.
Please be prepared to work with others using a given object to create something to show.
Please also bring a 3 minute learned drama piece.
If you play an instrument please bring this, along with a traditional piece of Gypsy music to play.
If you sing please bring a song that you may be asked to perform unaccompanied.
