This vacancy was posted on 19/11/09 We would like to invite committed string players to audition for various positions within Sahara (deps and main members).
You must WANT a record deal and be willing to work extremely hard to achieve this!
Sahara will be promoted to the same audience of that of Escala and Bond. Those interested must be able to play with virtuosity, make Sahara a number one priority and be able to or be interested in singing!
All music is performed from memory, with movement. This does not involve dancing or tacky moves! It is an extremely cool and sexy group, not cheesy and naff!
The music is a fusion of tango and hip hop music and this must be something you are interested in to be part of the group. Along with the music and quality of performance being a high priority, image is everything. You will have help from Sahara's stylist in what to wear and how to wear your make up. You must enjoy dressing up, being in the lime light and being over the top with everything from performing to your image on and off stage! You will be playing on your acoustic instruments with live backing from Sahara's rhythm section. In smaller events you will be playing with backing tracks. Cellists must be prepared to stand up where the music permits.
Other qualities and expectations of Sahara members will be to:

Attend regular and intense rehearsal sessions.
Own or purchase a good quality pick up (wireless preferable)
Purchase clothes for stage
Socialising as a quartet at high profile events / networking events.
Passionate and enthusiastic about the group / Sahara concept.
Sahara has a strong team of committed people from stylists, photographers, composers, arrangers and musicians. We are looking for those who will compliment and enhance the group.
For the audition you will be required to play a solo piece demonstrating your virtuosic ability on your instrument, performed as you would if you were playing in Sahara. It is optional as to whether you would like to play from memory. This can be with or without movement. We will be looking for drama and technical ability on your instrument. We would also like you to sing one verse and chorus from your song of choice. This can be with music.
You will be given one of Sahara's pieces to learn from memory one week before your audition and will play this in the second round of auditions to be held on the same day.
All applicants need to be flexible with their availability and be prepared to move around other commitments where possible. You will be required to sign a years non exclusive contract.
