The Festival Charity launches its third biennial showcase of new creative talent in 2010.
The website currently has over 7,200 registered users and approximately 14,000 pieces of artwork showcased online. The current website was first developed in 2005, for the 2010 Festival the website will be designed and built from scratch.
We are looking for a Web Designer with experience in Information Architecture and Website Development to design, develop and co-manage a new website with the Web Developer.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about keeping up with current and future web developments (including web 2.0, social networking and rich internet application development), with an entrepreneurial streak and creative skills to join the team in Manchester.
The role must make you wake up every morning with a burning desire to drive audiences to see and buy the work of new creatives. You should have an interest in promoting creative portfolios online.
From a detailed brief you will work up from initial design concepts to create workflows and site maps through to detailed site mock ups. You will work closely with the web programmer to build and develop a finished site. Knowledge of HTML and CSS is essential. Proficiency with Flash, Actionscript and XML will set you ahead.
The website is built using the Joomla Content Management System, so working experience of current content management systems, PHP and SQL databases would be required.
You will need to be able work to deadlines and work independently when necessary, and offer technical solutions to queries and problems as required.
As ‘Web Content Manager’ you will work closely with the Web Developer, the Executive Producer and Operations Manager.
Person Specification
Ability to lead and project manage the re-development of the 2010 site.
Expertise in information architecture, navigation design and task flow, with the ability to apply this to the development of the new site and improve user experience on an ongoing basis.
Capable of working from initial design concepts through to producing detailed site maps and mock-ups.
An fascination with current social networking trends, tools and applications across the web.
Experience of developing and working with third party widgets, applications and APIs
Proficiency in Search Engine Optimisation
An understanding of website statistics and Google Analytics and the ability to apply this information to the redevelopment of the site
An understanding of E-Commerce optimisation
Essential Technical skills: Photoshop, Illustrator, HTML, CSS, Joomla,
Desirable Technical skills: Flash, Actionscript, XML, AJAX, Javascript, Drupal, PHP, SQL
Salary will be dependent on experience.
