| About | The Sleeping Years is the new project for ex-Catchers singer Dale Grundle. The Sleeping Years started with a trilogy of EPs, ‘You and Me Against The World’,, ‘Setting fire to sleepy towns’ and 'Clocks and clones'. They garnered critical acclaim, featuring on BBC Radio 1’s Introducing, the Guardian’s writer’s play list and on the cover mount of Rolling Stone and Word Magazine. The debut album 'We're becoming islands one by one' was released in 2008 on Talitres Records in France and by Rocketgirl in the UK and Ireland. Dale was born in Coleraine, Northern Ireland to an Irish father and a Scottish mother and started his first band Catchers while at school. Their first single ‘Cotton Dress’ came out on Setanta Records and became single of the week in Melody Maker. Their debut album ‘Mute’ was recorded with Mike Hedges (U2, Manic Street Preachers, Travis) in France. Dale went on to tour with Pulp, Edwyn Collins, The Divine Comedy, Dr. John and Oasis. Catchers recorded their second album ‘Stooping to Fit’ with Nick Drake’s arranger Robert Kirby writing string and brass section parts for some of the songs. On ‘We’re becoming Islands One By One” Dale performs all vocals and guitars, not to mention bass, Hammond organ, Rhodes piano and e-bow parts. The Sleeping Years have recently toured across France, Italy, Belgium, Ireland and the UK, including dates supporting Bowerbirds, Damien Jurado, Scout Niblett and Okkervil River. | |
