Tips on filling in the profile form, and how the searches work
Most jobs are filled by companies running their own profile searches. Profiles are listed in order of those most recently updated, so it's a good idea to update regularly.
(You don't have to alter any details in your profile, just login, go to 'Update Profile', then click 'Update' at the foot of the profile.)
As a subscribing individual member you can also use the Members Directory search facility and view other members' profiles.
You will receive regular e-mails informing you of relevant job postings, and a weekly 'Here's Looking at You Kid?' e-mail letting you know which companies have viewed your profile. Please ensure your e-mail address is correctly entered as it is our main means of contacting you.
Only subscribing individual members can apply for these vacancies via the site. To view current vacancies login and click on 'jobs'. Clicking on the 'subject' brings up the specific vacancy details. To apply for a position you must be logged in. Click the link below the job specification.
Applications are sent by e-mail direct to the company. We recommend that you include a covering letter. All applications contain a direct link to your profile.
(It is worth noting that while the jobs board is very popular and proving to be a great success, most positions are filled by companies using the search facility to find people.)
You can cancel or archive your membership and your monthly direct debit at any time by clicking 'profile' on the top menu bar then clicking the cancel button at the top right.
If your profile is archived and you would like it to be made live on the site just go to the home page and click on 'register/reactivate here' and go through the payment pages again.
You won't have to re-enter your profile details.
At the end of the payment procedure you will be asked if you already have a members' profile with UK Music-Jobs, and then will be asked to enter your email address and UK Music-Jobs password. Upon doing this your profile will be made live automatically.
Some formatting may be lost when cutting and pasting from a Word document, so doublecheck the appearance of your profile.
To jazz up the appearance of your profile simply add some very simple coding. This will enable you to use bold, underlining and italics.
Here's a simple guide:
Producer would give you Producer (in bold)
Songwriter would give you Songwriter (in bold and underlined)
A&R Co-ordinator would give you A&R Co-ordinator (in italics). You can combine one or more of these. It's quite straightforward, just remember that the coding comes immediately before the text you want altered, and then immediately afterward (the forward slash is vital here).
This is the basic coding for a link to any website. Adapt this coding to your needs, typing in the space between inverted commas the website address you want to link to, and between the angled brackets the text you want to be displayed.
Click here to view my website would give you Click here to view my website
To upload a Word version of your profile click on 'Upload Word' on the menu bar - N.B. Word docs are best saved as Rich Text Format beforehand.
This is a static page - you cannot amend it. To make changes go back to your original Word doc (e.g. on your Desktop), update and save it, then login to the UK Music-Jobs, click on 'Upload Word' and delete the existing Word doc you have attached, then upload the new version (sounds complicated, but it's not!)
You can enter one or multiple periods of availability (click on 'Availability' on the menu). These are displayed toward the top of your profile.
If you prefer, you can leave your availability blank and your profile will display 'Available' at the top.
You can choose to set up a webpage. Please note this will make your information available publically through search engines such as Google or Yahoo.
