It means a band that's willing to take the music scene seriously, and wants to actually succeed in making it their career :)

I think I've been somewhat misunderstood!
By the words 'serious band' I simply mean committed musicians that are eager to put all their efforts into the band, not some sort of depressive collaboration :)
