...for SOUL KID!

London's hottest hippest happeninist collective!! OWWW!!!

We are a top notch original professional standard - 7 piece (BASS-DRUMS-KEYS-SYNTHS-GUITAR-HORNS-VOX), with an album's worth of material and have played some terrific shows around london (Jazz Cafe, Monto, Fly, Underbelly, Good Ship, etc).

The lead vocalist wishes to concentrate on purely vocals, and working the crowd, so we need a top standard funky-style player to relieve him of guitar duties. Some good, clever solo work will also be required, but grooving with the bass, drums and keys is most important.

We have tried out a few guitarists since we started out but none had the funky flavour, dynamic, chord knowledge, tight feel and overall sound we needed.
We also want someone with stage presence, cool looks and who knows how to smile and share energy with the audience (and not just stare at the floor!) Backing vocal and harmony ability would also be a huge advantage, but not a must.

The right guitarist should share similiar influences to us: Maroon 5, Jamiroquai, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, John Legend, Steely Dan, Michael Jackson band, James Brown, Justin Timberlake band, Prince, etc (Strat type sound)

He/she should also have good gear (and preferably transport), know when he/she is too loud (or not loud enough!), have a good personality, be a POSITIVE person and get on well with the band, and have a good simple clear sound. We want a player who can do the simple things right. Nice bright clean sound, excellent wah wah capability and decent solo sound. We DO NOT want players who have 5,000 effects and spend half the gig pressing foot switches and adjusting pots, as it's not an experimental band it's a POP BAND :)

So if you think you fit the bill then why not get in touch? This could be the band you've been looking for. We rehearse and gig regularly and are very committed and driven. We have big plans for the new year in terms of investment, recording and PR.

We must point out that we all have other incomes (teaching, dep work, etc) so this ain't paying jack until we establish a fan base.

We welcome players who can write music too, but these must be complete commercial tunes (and not just riffs and jams).

Can't say anymore than that really. If you got the chops, then drop us a Mutha-funkin line!

P.S. the myspace tunes are a little dated but the tunes are of a similiar flavour, combined with our influences (and we're a lot better live!!
