MySpace has launched a content aggregation page called MySpace Today to help users find new and popular content on the site. The section will filter the latest content from celebrities and musicians and flag up new features.
It will feature highlights from categories called Today’s Top Stories, Our Latest Post, Who Just Blogged, What We’re Listening To, Today’s Hot Videos, Who Should I Befriend and Apps We’re Playing With.
MySpace is also allowing its members to sync their status updates with Twitter. It will enable all status updates from MySpace to appear on Twitter and all tweets to be fed into members’ MySpace updates.
The opt-in setting will use open authentication technology OAuth, which will ensure limited data is shared between the sites. The functionality will only be available in the US on launch, but will be rolled out worldwide in the coming weeks.
Sharon Nguyen, senior product manager at MySpace, said the social network would be looking to incorporate other networks into the functionality. “We know people explore many different networks and this is a way for us to help them and extend their content beyond their friends on MySpace. We would definitely like to add other networks,” she said.
