Optimizing Your Mix Event - FREE ENTRY
Whether you are recording, mixing or producing, playing guitar or piano, Rock or Hip Hop, all of us want to ensure that our music sounds the best it can. Our next event will be the first in a series of three events helping you to get the most out of your mix / master.
Most people know that there are audible and technical differences between CD, Vinyl and MP3 and certain issues to watch out for when mixing and producing, especially for vinyl, for example.
Nevertheless, a lot of people still produce only one mix, and hope it will work somehow when going to mastering for all formats.
With a big Vinyl renaissance happening on the one hand, and on the other music increasingly being distributed and consumed via compressed formats such as AAC, MP3 and WMA, we thought it was time to take a closer look at how to ensure your music sounds as good as possible in each format.
This first event, which will be held at 6:30pm (for 7:00pm start) on 26.05.2009 at Strongroom Bar, will focus on the history of formats, such as tape, Vinyl and CD, and the technical issues and challenges, and the techniques to tackle them. There will be a panel and discussion as well as some practical listening tests. On the panel we have mastering engineers such as Ray Staff (Air Mastering) and Crispin Murray (Metropolis) as well as Mix engineers and producers, such as James Towler and Tony Platt.
As the issue of compressed formats is such a big topic in itself, we reserved the second event solely for that. The third event will then sum up the findings of the first two events, and hopefully come up with some recommendations for the perfect format for the future.
Book early, as there will be only a limited number of places. This event is FREE. Please RSVP to events@mpg.org.uk ASAP to secure places.
Upon booking via above email you will then be emailed a personal e-ticket, which you will need to print out and bring along to gain entry.
