COMPETITION TO BE A CREW MEMBER FOR WORTHY FM AT GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2009
Worthy fm will be broadcasting from 22nd to 29th June 24hours a day. It is the onsite radio station for Glastonbury festival and its purpose is to inform festival goers and surrounding villagers of information relating to the festival. It also covers the onsite entertainment and is broadcast on fm and on the internet. Before entering this competition please ensure you are available to arrive on site by Sunday 21st June and stay until mid-day on Monday 29th June.
This is a chance to win a place on the crew of Worthy fm as a presenter or editor. Presenters work with experienced producers and co-presenters and are required to broadcast for 2 hours and work behind the scenes as required for another 2 hours each day whilst on site. Editors will not be required to present but must be capable of editing other people’s audio under pressure. Final audio for broadcast is generally a maximum of 5 minutes. Editors are required to work 4 hour shifts each day whilst on site.
Rules:
1) You must be aged 17 or above by 21st June 2009.
2) You must currently (or within 12 months previous to December 2008) be a student studying media, radio, software editing, music production or journalism
3) Your application must be in the form of a 3 minute audio demo in MP3 format only – no other format will be accepted. Winners will be required to provide evidence of being a student or having completed your studies.
Category A: Presenter (2 positions)
Your 3 minute demo must include the following elements using your voice in each one:
1) links for music presentation (unscripted)
2) a short interview
3) a short introduction to one of the performers from a previous Glastonbury festival
4) reading a scripted piece which says why you would be an ideal presenter on Worthy fm
Criteria for evaluating Category A: Presenters
• Confident, clear presentation style
• Knowledge of less mainstream areas of the festival
• Understanding and knowledge of festival
• Sensitivity and appropriate style towards the subject matter/music
Category B: Audio Editing (2 positions)
Your 3 minute demo must include the following elements:
1) an edited interview
2) a speech to music link (need not be your voice)
3) a short feature using appropriate sound effects
4) a spoken piece describing why you would like to be an editor for Worthy fm
Criteria for evaluating Category B: Audio Editor
• Creativity
• Attention to detail and clean editing skills
• Sensitivity to the subject matter/music
• Good sound levels
You may enter both categories but you can only enter each category once.
