I'm looking for a producer to mix a track just recorded by my band in a high end studio (www.wendyhouseproductions.co.uk). We have all the stems so you can mix it in whatever program you want. We will pay £50 if we use your mix of the track.

If you have the equipment and expertise to master the track as well then we would pay £80 if we used it, though we would want your mixed but unmastered version too.

The track is upbeat indie rock, featuring drums, bass, acoustic guitar, various electric guitar parts (including some more textural parts), as well as a couple of other instruments, and lead and backing vocals.

We had a showcase yesterday in front of universal and received a good response so we are hoping for big things from this track (which will be our singe) - if things do go well we'll happily give you a bit more cash as our way of saying thanks! Also you will be fully accredited.

Thanks,
James

Hello James,

I am afraid that 50pounds for mixing a track is a price for a bedroom mixer with waves plugins freshly downloaded from a torrent website....
Being honest, mixing is very hard work and time consuming. Most of customers don't understand whole process.
Tracks need to be edited then mixed. Even if someone use only PC/Mac and virtual plugins, it's still over 4-5 hours for an easy 3-4 min mix. In most cases job can't be done faster then 7-8 hours.
Mastering a song is less time consuming and much easier process, you work on stereo file, and master of one song is done within 1 hour.
Please bear it in mind with your budget, if someone accept 50 pounds for mixing, it means he/she doesn't have a clue about mixing and it's almost 99% sure your mix will sound unprofessional.
If you have a good recording, don't save pennies on mix, because your song will suffer. Save more and use professional mixing suite, with real equipment, knowledge and skills.
I advice you to check our service:

best wishes

I'll do it. Mixed loads of stuff including cds released in HMV and on iTunes. I'll do a preliminary mp3 mix and if you don't like it you don't have to pay me.

I would want to do this, I can mix a track in pro tools or logic. Just finished university studying Audio Music Tech and have mixed lot of tracks in the past. Have also worked in professional studios, one of them being Leeders Farm.

Cheers

You track in a "high end studio" and now you MIGHT pay £50 for a mix ???

You might even pay £80 for a mix and mastering ???

If you use it. Oh and you'll give the guy more money later on, sometime, when you're famous.

unbelievable.

I did a mix of this track for these guys. They obviously didn't like the mix that I had done, which is fair enough, but after I sent the mix to them I never heard from them again, not even a sorry were not happy with it. Very rude way to conduct business, especially considering melquiades' point, taking 4-5 hours of my time.

I don't work for free anymore. I'm lucky enough to have paying clients, a situation which has taken me many years to be in, and one which a lot of producers (or any creative) would love to be in.

Not impressed!!!
