I produce an alternative music specialist afternoon show in a voluntary capacity once a week. My responsibilities include reseaching music and topical events to be used on the show, editing packages and audio material as well as forging a close relationship with the presenter so as to be able to create the best show possible.

Music And Media Researcher

I research music played on various radio stations, identifying the artists and song titles as well as collating information about the content of speech and music played on the stations. I also study TV and radio for particular subjects/ topics or mentions that particular clients who employ us want investigated.

Broadcast Assistant/Producer

My duties were twofold, administrative and production.

Administrative Duties
I manage the team’s diaries and On It’s Music library electronically and physically. I also book and manage the recording studio as well as arranging for deputies to cover DJs on the BBC Mix Shows. I am responsible for writing letters and emails to prospective clients, sorting mail, faxing, filing, writing and sending invoices.
As a pivotal member of the team, I manage and distribute important information to the rest of the team and DJs and also co-ordinate their time off and holiday.

Production Duties
I undertake music and feature research on the BBC 1xtra Mix Shows and the 6 Music Weekend Breakfast Show. I clean and edit audio material for all production projects that we embark on.
I produce pre-recorded shows with cover DJs at the On It studio and also produce demos for aspiring DJs like DJ WM and DJ Sam Young.

My specific responsibilities on the BBC Mix Shows include
• Managing BBC On-Air Talent and Deputies like Twin B, Young Lion, DJ Ironik and Sarah Love.
• Writing scripts & running orders for live shows.
• Creating and managing On-Air radio features which often deal with listeners.
• Logging in trails and music for each broadcast on the Romeo system.
• Quarterly executive summary music reporting for each show and daily conflict of interest tracks emails to relevant executives.
• Ensuring ROTs (Record of Transmission) were completed during each show
• In compliance with the bad language policy at the BBC, I thoroughly check, clean and edit audio before broadcast. I also keep a physical record and digital database of all music played in all the Mix Shows.
• Keeping abreast of new music and potential artists via research and word of mouth.

I am responsible for show broadcasts, writing scripts and research. I work as part of a team to ensure out put of good quality. Other duties include editing show material, creating jingles and vox-pops and updating online news blogs.

I was responsible for putting together and running of show broadcasts, researching and writing scripts for show. I was also in charge of arranging and booking guests for the show. I worked with the team to create playlists and develop ideas and features. I worked with the team to identify opportunities, adapted to different situations and gained interpersonal skills which were essential to the role.
